Clofert is a non-steroidal anti-estrogen containing the active ingredient Clomiphene Citrate. Its mechanism of action involves specifically binding to estrogen receptors in the ovaries and pituitary gland. In individuals with low estrogen levels, it mimics estrogenic effects, while in those with elevated levels, it produces anti-estrogenic effects. Low doses promote the secretion of gonadotropins (such as prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and interstitial cell-stimulating hormone), stimulating ovulation; higher doses can inhibit gonadotropin secretion. Clofert aids in stimulating ovulation and preparing the body for pregnancy. It can also be prescribed to male patients experiencing infertility due to low sperm production.
Clofert is taken to induce ovulation. It is recommended to start with a dosage of 50 mg once daily at bedtime, beginning on the 5th day of the menstrual cycle and continuing for 5 days (or at any time if there is no cycle). If ovulation does not occur within 30 days, the dosage may be increased to 150 mg/day or the treatment duration extended to 10 days. Take the medication precisely as directed, and do not exceed the prescribed amount of Clofert.
Alongside allergy symptoms such as swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives, some patients may experience conditions like ovarian enlargement, which can manifest as abdominal or pelvic pain, flushing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blurred vision, headaches, or abnormal uterine bleeding.
Before starting Clofert, inform your doctor if you have a history of allergic reactions to clomiphene, liver disorders, mental depression, or thrombophlebitis. Clofert may lead to vision disturbances, dizziness, or lightheadedness, so exercise particular caution if driving or operating machinery that requires focused attention.
